A demo account is the practice lab a beginner works in before any money is involved: free, funded with virtual money, running on real market prices, available on MT4, MT5, the Exness Terminal and the app. It starts with $10,000 in virtual funds and needs no verification to open. What matters is not that it exists but what is done on it — a fixed routine, a written plan and a log, rather than random clicking until it gets dull.

Why use a demo first

What a demo run is actually for

The first purpose is mechanical. Placing a market order, attaching a stop loss and a take profit before sending it, modifying a level on an open trade, closing part of a position: these are motor skills, and getting them wrong with real money is expensive for no reason.

The second purpose is evidence. A plan claims that a particular setup, entered a particular way, with the stop in a particular place, is worth taking. That claim is only worth anything after a few dozen trades have been recorded under it, with the reason for each entry written down before the result was known.

The third purpose is honesty about the schedule. A demo shows quickly whether the hours you can actually sit at a screen line up with the hours the chosen market moves. That answer is much cheaper to get now than after funding.

Where a demo misleads, and how to correct for it

Virtual money does not hurt, so demo discipline flatters everyone. The correction is to trade the demo at the size the live account will really use, not at the size the virtual balance allows — the balance can be reset from Set Balance in the Personal Area at any time.

A demo also invites over-trading, because there is no cost to being wrong. Capping the number of trades per day in the written plan makes the demo behave more like the account it is rehearsing for.

Demo accounts can go inactive after a long unused period, and a new one can be opened at any time. Up to 100 MT4 and 100 MT5 demo accounts sit under one profile, so several account types can be rehearsed side by side.

A four-week demo routine

  1. Week one — mechanics only. Place, modify and close orders. No plan, no scoring, just the ticket.
  2. Week two — write the plan on one page: market, timeframe, entry condition, stop placement, risk per trade, maximum trades per day.
  3. Week three — trade the plan and log every entry with its reason before the outcome is known.
  4. Week four — read the log rather than the balance. Which rule was broken most often, and on which day of the week?

The run ends on sample size, not on a profit figure. If the log is thin, the month repeats.

Questions a first-time trader asks

Is the Exness demo account free?
Yes. It is free, funded with virtual money, and needs no verification to open.
How much virtual money does a demo start with?
An Exness demo starts with $10,000 in virtual funds, and the balance can be reset or changed at any time from Set Balance in the Personal Area or in the Exness Trade app.
How do you know when demo practice is finished?
When a few dozen trades have been logged under one unchanged set of rules and the log shows which rule gets broken. A profitable week is not the finish line; a readable sample is.
Should a demo be traded at the same size as a future live account?
Yes. Trading a $10,000 virtual balance with lot sizes a small live account could never use teaches habits that have to be unlearned later.
Does an Exness demo expire?
Demo accounts can become inactive after a long period without use, but a new one can be opened at any time from the Personal Area.

Disappearing Demo Accounts. the fact that a Demo account gets deleted because you haven’t been on it in a week or less is just weird, I’ve lost about 5 accounts in total I’ve been practicing on, such a shame I actually liked the UI & everything else
