The machine where the practice run belongs
The desktop terminals keep a layout between sessions, which sounds like a convenience and is actually a discipline. A saved template means the same chart, the same timeframe and the same two indicators appear every day, so a demo run is comparing like with like instead of quietly changing the setup as it goes.
It is also the machine where the journal gets written. The account history tab exports what happened, and a beginner reading a week of it on a full screen sees the pattern that the same data hides on a phone.
Leaving the computer running is a separate question. Protective levels sit on the trading server, so they do not need the terminal to be awake; what a running terminal gives you is live charts and alerts. On UTC+7 the American session opens late in the local evening, which is usually a reason to be asleep rather than a reason to watch.
