MetaTrader 4 (MT4) — Cambodia

MT4 is a reasonable first terminal because there is less of it to get lost in: a beginner uses five parts of it and can safely ignore the rest for a whole month.

MetaTrader 4 is a reasonable first terminal because there is less of it to get lost in. A beginner uses five things: the Market Watch list, one chart, the order ticket with its stop loss and take profit fields, the open positions tab, and the account history. Everything else — custom indicators, nine timeframes, the strategy tester — can stay untouched for the whole first month. MT4 is free and connects to any Exness account type.

The five things a first month uses

Market Watch, trimmed to one instrument. A list of thirty symbols is a list of thirty distractions, and hiding the rest is a two-click job that changes how the terminal feels.

One chart on one timeframe. The plan names both, so the terminal should show exactly that and nothing else until the plan changes.

The order ticket, with stop loss and take profit filled in before the order is sent. This is the single habit worth drilling on a demo until it is automatic.

The open positions tab, read as a check rather than as entertainment; and the history tab, which is where the trading journal gets its facts from at the end of the week.

What to leave switched off for now

Custom indicators downloaded from elsewhere. They add opinions to a chart before there is a plan for the chart to serve, and a beginner has no way to judge whether an opinion is any good.

Automated trading. A rule set that cannot be described on one page cannot be supervised, and the whole point of the first month is supervision.

Multiple charts and multiple timeframes at once. They can be added back the day the log shows a specific question that one chart cannot answer.

Questions a first-time trader asks

Is MT4 a good first platform for a beginner?
It is, mostly because it is smaller. Fewer order types and fewer panels mean fewer ways to send something unintended while the ticket is still unfamiliar.
Is MetaTrader 4 free on Exness?
Yes. MT4 is free to download and use with an Exness account on desktop, web and mobile.
Which parts of MT4 should a beginner ignore at first?
Custom indicators, automated trading and the strategy tester. None of them help until there is a written plan to test, and all of them add ways to be confused.
Can a demo account be used on MT4?
Yes, and it should be. The demo connects to MT4 the same way a live account does, so the mechanics learned there transfer exactly.
